Jarrod had intended to propose to Briarley on a getaway to Hawaii. His romantic plans were thwarted in the best kind of way when Briarley’s dream of living in New York came true that day she received news of winning a coveted green card. The catch was they needed to be married in order for them both to embark on this great new adventure. Plans were changed, family were notified and friends were petitioned to join them in Hawaii, not for an engagement but a tropical destination wedding. As the legendary big ‘winter’ swells began to heave themselves against the Pacific coastline Briarley and Jarrod married in an idyllic corner of Oahu’s Waikiki Beach with 50 of their closest friends and family. Hosted by The Modern Honolulu their wedding embraced nods to the contemporary while also celebrating Hawaii’s traditions through land and ritual. The wedding was a minimal affair allowing relationship and the beautiful setting to take centre stage – the best sort of Hawaii destination wedding.
